Ghislaine?! thought Leandra, with more than a little disdain. She was indeed a sorceress, banished from the Kingdom of Nights Grace for daring to disdain True Darkness [37] and instead draw her power from the Fae*. But surely she did not have the power to penetrate the god-wall protecting the Kingdom from outsiders?! Surely... and yet... "There, you see," said Leandra soothingly. "The truth isn't that hard. Now what am I do to with you intruders..." "Let us go?" asked Josh, with a weak smile. Leandra responded with a short barkling laugh. "I think not," she said. "I care not for you to go back with a false message of weakness that you will surely not deliver anyway. As soon as I let you go, you would relay everything to that fickle bitch. Instead, I think that you will tell me everything you know about Ghislaine and her nefarious plans!" This was not turning out well. Astra had no idea how they would spin up a tale to fool Leandra further. And she had the unmistakable creepy sensation going up her spine that if they got caught in a lie their lives would be forfeit.
