The tip of the upper peninsula of Michigan was a long, long way from a small town in the Patagonia region of South America, but that's where CIA agent Red "Scraps" Dupris had somehow been teleported to. Perhaps it was some sort of cosmic balance, after a woman named Edith Harper had mysteriously been sent from Miles City, Montana to El Calafate in Argentina. Dupris had contacted his pals and fellow CIA agents Bruno McClane and Tim Leary about his new whereabouts before abruptly signing off after "being approached by a group of people" [1497]. That "group of people" was a ragtag band of part time local law enforcement officers who had taken it upon themselves to question why this stranger had manifested himself practically out of thin air. Dupris asked for help making his way down U.S. 41 from Copper Harbor so he could pursue this hunch he had upon his arrival in Michigan. Dupris was driven to the village of Calumet, where the patience of the man driving him away from Copper Harbor finally snapped. He was unceremoniously dropped off at the corner of U.S. 41 and the 6th Street Extension, and the van he was riding in made an illegal u-turn as it sped back northwards towards Copper Harbor. "Well," Dupris mumbled to himself as he watched the van speed away, "that man was certainly a rude one!"
