Obscure Obsession

There is one place in South America that had been on Edith's mind for some time after she discovered its existence on the internet while unspeakably bored one evening several months ago. Ripley S.A. is an upscale department store chain with stores throughout Chile and Peru, and Edith had grown obsessed with it, since they have no presence whatsoever in the United States.

Unbeknownst to Edith, there is a store within a day's drive of El Calafate, down in Punta Arenas, Chile. It would mean having to cross an international border and traverse some unpaved dirt tracks connecting two different highways in two neighboring countries in order to get there.

The hotel does not have any brochures from Ripley, and the clerk knows very little about it. By chance, both McClane and Leary have entered the lobby after Edith finished trying to talk to the desk clerk.

"Edith?" Leary asks. "Is there something we can do for you?"

1. "Take me to the nearest Ripley!"
2. "No, I was just looking around."
3. "Can we get something to eat first?"
