Its Pretty Big

Horsehockey V - Episode 1649

Fred, Astra, and Velus are quite overcome by the sheer magnitude of the Multiversal Mall, AKA Nexus Prime AA001. To try to describe the Multiversal Mall from their perspective would be confusing to say the least without context, so we will reference The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Multiverse. This is its entry.

The Multiversal Mall is a Nexus, or connecting point between universes, realities, dimensions, planes, and worlds. It is considered Nexus Prime because from the Multiversal Mall you can exit to any of the known (and many of the unknown) locations in the Multiverse. No one knows what it looks like from the outside, or where it is, only that it IS.

Size

The Multiversal Mall has a N/500 number of floors, where N represents the number of stores that are open and there are 500 stores per floor. So, if ten thousand stores are open (a relatively common amount, although ten thousand times that has been known to happen, as well as one day during the Chaos Wars when there were only six) then there would be 20 floors.

There are thirty two elevators for public use in the mall, four in each of the eight sections of the mall. In addition, every section has eight escalators. There are also the MagiTek® ComfortLifts* that are available for rent from customer service. Customer service can be reached between each store by using the hidden control panel.** Decor

The Mall is decorated in every way possible. It uses advanced MagiTek® to change its decor dramatically, every three hours, for every section of the mall. There are benches, couches, easy chairs, massage chairs, and sleeping areas scattered throughout every floor. Expressive use of plants are used, with the dangerous ones encased in see-through energy fields so that mall patrons are not eaten, ravaged, sedated ,transformed, or killed.

Layout and Navigation

As mentioned, there are 500 stores per floor, with 62.5 stores per section. there are eight sections to each floor. When entering the Mall you are given a wristband. This wristband has a few buttons: Map, Guide, Emergency, and Services. If you enter the Mall from the Starbucks at the End of the Multiverse, get your wristband from any shopkeeper. The wristband also puts you in your own aura that causes you to not get tired, achy, cures headaches, and allows you to take Multiversal Mall Shortcuts (covered later, read on).

Looking straight up at all of the floors is very disconcerting experience for many people, even more so is looking straight down. We recommend against doing neither. When a store opens, it is given the next available slot at random. For this reason, stores are almost never in the same place. There are a few exceptions, which we will go over below, then we will go over the buttons on the wristband.

Exception #1: Starbucks at the End of the Multiverse. The most popular traveling store, it has the North end storefront on the Main Floor. It has its own Multiversal Mall Shortcut. When it is not at the mall, there are advertisements and signs, coupons, and a very cool countdown timer to its return.

Exception #2: Isher Weapons, Alfred van Vogt, Proprietor. This is a Traveling store. Located one door down on the left from the Starbucks at the End of the Multiverse. Shows up at random as opposed to on a schedule like Starbucks. When it is not there, blank storefront. Kind of creepy.

Exception #3: Customer Services. This is always located on every floor, in the middle. Extradimensional space makes it MUCH bigger on the inside than the out. Its a bit disorienting.

Exception #4: Multiversal Food Court. This is its own floor, Food Plaza. Has its own Multiversal Mall Shortcut. There are restaurants on other floors, but you can always find something to eat on the Food Plaza.

* - MagiTek ComfortLifts can be rented from Customer Service on any floor, and from certain storefronts. They consist of a tiny crystal that fits into a depression on your wristband. With it in there, you can sit back and relax on an invisible floating easychair that will float to any destination that you choose. They are rented by the hour, but you are warned when they are about to expire so you can renew or stand up before you are dumped on your arse.

** - For aesthetic purposes, all control panels are hidden. To show them, bring your wristband in close proximity to the small space between stores. This will show the panel immediately. The first time you use them, you need to register.

  1. Back to the mall, with Fred, Astra, Velus, Ben, Reaibn, Lots, and JH.
  2. And now we move on to discussing the wristband.
