Super Racist Grandfather

Horsehockey V - Episode 863

Scott Childers then stumbled upon the first (and presumably only issue) of a little known Image project called Super Racist Grandfather.

The titular character, Elmer Embry from Whitesville, Mississippi (not a real city), is a deeply troubled man whose problems escalate once he finds out that his eighteen-year-old granddaughter, Kendra, is dating a black classmate from the nearest good sized town. Throughout the book following the revelation, Elmer frequently goes on confusing tirades attacking anyone who wasn't caucasian, heterosexual, or Christian. It can only be surmised by readers that Embry's rants are written more for comic effect in order to mock the clearly racist and unsympathetic main character, as one of the running gags in the comic is Elmer getting triggered in public settings like the local Walmart or a restaurant, leading to being ejected from the property.

Following a near-physical confrontation with Kendra, her boyfriend, and a few other family members, the book concludes with a cliffhanger: Elmer assembling a costume while creating the identity of "Super Racist Grandfather". It is not clear whether or not Elmer will be a force for good or evil, or if he'll just become a laughable figure in a ridiculous costume who gets seriously injured or even killed by a gang of youths that he chose to attack over his own insecurities.

Scott turns up his nose after reading the end of the comic. He would give it three out of ten points: some of the jokes were kind of funny, and the artwork was passable, but he really felt that this comic book as a concept should have never seen publication by any legitimate publishing house. He puts the book back in its place, and turns his eye towards the nearest issue of...

  1. Deeply Closeted Republican.
  2. Very Unpopular High School Junior.
  3. Blues Obsessed Puppy.
  4. The Religious Atheist.
  5. Hypocritical Clean Cut Woman.
  6. Something else?
