Unknown to Astra and Exotica as they started out heading north-east, they had appeared at a point in the trail just past where a spur heading west would lead to Well 20. If they carried on, then in an hour or two they would find themselves walking beside the shore of Lake Disappointment. Unfortunately for them, the lake was almost always dry, and even when it wasn't the water tended to be very salty. To make matters worse, it was late November, so approaching the start of the Australian summer, meaning that few if any tourists would be using the trail.
The sun was just setting - and a full moon was rising - but it was still extremely hot. For once Astra had been fully clothed, but before long she felt so uncomfortable that she stripped down to her bra and panties. More reluctantly, Exotica followed her example. (On their previous visit, the princesses had discovered how much more comfortable Earth underwear was than what they were used to on their home world, and had had their seamstresses make them more bras and panties.) "Where do you think we are?" Exotica asked. "I've no idea. I've never seem anywhere like this on our own world. I think we might be back on Earth somewhere - the moon looks the right size - but that doesn't help us much." Suddenly there was a popping sound, and Belboz the necromancer materialised out of thin air and fell to the ground in front of them. "Belboz!" Astra exclaimed. "Are you the one responsible for sending us here?"
