There are various murmurs of assent. The group talks about how important it is to find shelter, what with the sun setting soon [306]. "Why don't we just go to that Manifold Rest Stop over there?" Kim asks, pointing down the road.

And, indeed, there is what appears to be a well lit and fully functional rest stop (with gift shop and motel rooms) just down the road a bit. Everyone is absolutely sure it was not there before. There are a few cars in the parking lot, and music can be heard, faintly.

1. They go to the rest stop. The sign says Manifold Rest Stop: Travelers Nepenthe.
2. "Well... that's a new one," says Jasper. "We need to talk about this first."
3. Oops, Kim ran screaming into the forest again.
4. Mitchell, the staircase librarian, rides by on a moped.
