"Sorry about that," Zathar said, seing the look of confusion on Sharon's face and feeling proud of himself to have been able to interpret her expression. He pressed some buttons, causing the screen to change to English.

"I'm impressed," Sharon admitted.

"We have a saying on our world: a sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. This must seem like magic to you, coming from such a primitive world."

"Actually we have the same saying on my world too," Sharon said, nettled by his patronising tone.

  1. She ordered a salad, followed by steak and french fries, water and a coffee.
  2. She was less impressed by the limited choice of Earth dishes, which all seemed very unappetising.
  3. Unfortunately, though the menu might now be in English, there were no Earth dishes on offer, only alien ones. Would she be able to eat any of them? She asked Zather about them.
  4. The choice of food was OK, but all the drink options were alcoholic. She wasn't a teetotaller, but this didn't seem like the right time or place to indulge.
  5. Meanwhile, in the blackness of space, an unexpected threat was approaching...
