The delicious smells wafting from the food reminded Exotica that she was famished, as well as being very thirsty. "Can you tell if the food is safe to eat?" she asked Belboz.

"No," was all he said, unwilling to admit that something in this realm seemed to be suppressing his magic.

"I don't think that the Nira creature intends to poison us," Astra said. "I believe her when she says that she wants answers, and she isn't going to get any if we are dead or incapacitated. Whether she is going to be satisfied with the limited amount that we are able to tell her is another matter, of course. I have gained the impression that she's rather paranoid. Unfortunately I don't think there's any hope of escaping before she comes back - the sounds of the doors being barred and locked were very convincing. So we might as well tuck in. Their hospitality might be lacking in some respects - a hot bath and some clothes would have been nice - but I can't fault the catering."

  3. While the others are eating, Josh decides to check out that crystal figurine. It seems to be emanating a soft chime, pleasant to the ear.
  4. After Belboz has finished eating, he lies down on the sofa. "I am going to take a nap," he says, infuriating the ladies.
  5. Meanwhile, Leandra meets with Arturius in a simple chamber.
